William Frank Minga

William Frank Minga, 79, of Portsmouth, VA, died on Sunday, April 6, 2025. He was the son of the late Frank Lee Minga and Frances King Minga. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Barbara Mae Minga; daughter Glenie Minga Jones (Dale), son William Frank “Bill” Minga, Jr., step daughter Teresa Harwell (James); grandchildren Andrew (Katie), W. N. (Courtney), Ashley, Clay, Colt (Lauren), Brandon (Jen), and Colby (Haileigh); and thirteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Nonnie Minga (Beth) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Glenda Howell Minga.

Bill graduated from Smithfield High School and the Newport News Apprentice School, later retiring from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. As a native of Isle of Wight County, he ran his family farm for many years. His hobbies included reading, studying history, fishing and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. He had a passion for writing and published two books. Bill was a member and deacon of Colossee Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Memorial Park Cemetery, Smithfield, VA.
