Ruth Berryman Raymer

Ruth Berryman Raymer of Fort McCoy, Florida, passed away on November 22, 2024. She was born on January 20, 1948 in Surry County, Virginia. 

Her family moved to Burwell’s Bay in Isle of Wight County where she spent most of her younger life. She was a graduate of Smithfield High School. She met Don Raymer, the love of her life, and began their great adventure as a truck driving team in 1968. Most recently, she was a switchboard operator at Monroe Hospital, now Advent Health, Ocala.

 Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Eleanor Berryman and husband Don. She is survived by her sister, Bessie Scott of Smithfield, VA, her nephew Glen Scott of Ft. McCoy and her niece Shari Pearce and her husband Mike with their son William, of Newport News. She is also survived by her cousin and great friend, Gerry Jones and her husband Cary, as well as other cousins and friends. 

Ruth was a ray of sunshine to all who knew her. She was a woman of great faith who loved her church family at Fort McCoy Baptist Church. She was always happy to do things for other people. She loved animals and nature and enjoyed good food and traveling. 

She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
