Phyllis Ward Jones

Phyllis Ward Jones, 90, of Rescue, Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025. She was born to the late Joel Baker Ward and Lucille Ward. Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Edgar Jones.

Phyllis was a woman of unique character and had a hardworking spirit that was evident in everything she did. She enjoyed baking and crafting and was especially known for her talent in crocheting. Whether traveling near or far, Phyllis cherished the adventures she shared with her husband and friends, especially those memories spent in their beloved camper. A devout Christian, she was steadfast in her faith and found comfort in her beliefs.

Phyllis was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Charles Edgar “Cracker” Jones, Jr. (Judy) and Thomas W. “Windy” Jones (Pixie); grandchildren Dina, Derek, Ariel, Jeremy, and Kristen; six great-grandchildren; and many dear friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Benn’s United Methodist Church in Smithfield, Virginia. Friends and family are invited to join for a reception following the service.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Riverside Cancer Center and Riverside Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Phyllis' final days.
