Kent MacDonald Potter

Kent M. Potter, beloved husband, passed away on July 4, 2024. Born April 27, 1957, in Lubbock, TX, Kent was the eldest son of William and Alice Potter.

 Kent was given a camera at the age of 13 and he fell in love with photography, spending hours wandering the forests in Pennsylvania shooting wildlife.

 Kent enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 18 and proudly served his country for over two decades. Rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer, he was a leader, mentor, and friend to countless sailors. His dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment to duty earned him numerous commendations and the respect of his peers.

 Upon retiring from active duty, Kent told the stories of families through his photography. He owned and operated Reflections in Time Photography for more than twenty years. Kent had a unique ability to capture emotion in his photos.

 Kent is survived by his wife, Anna, and his mother, Alice. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Melanie, Jennifer, and Benjamin as well as his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William Potter, his brother, Kevin, and his sister, Kathy.

 A service will be held on July 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veteran’s Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd, Suffolk, VA.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one of the following Labrador retriever rescues in Kent’s honor: https://www.lab-rescue.org  or  https://www.labrescue-richmond.com
