John Clayton Carter

John Clayton Carter, 41, of Harrisonburg, VA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 30, 2023.  He was the son of William Clayton Carter, III and Johnette Smithwick Carter.  He is also survived by his sister, Heather Carter Jordan (Shaun) and their children, Isabella and Baylee; grandfather, John B. Smithwick; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jennie D. Smithwick, and Billy and Jo Carter.  He was a graduate of Isle of Wight Academy, he worked for the Town of Smithfield as 911 dispatcher while also volunteering at the Isle of Wight Rescue Squad, and most recently worked as a printing machine operator for Montebello Packaging in Harrisonburg.  He was loved and will be missed by so many who knew him. 2 Timothy 4:6-7 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
