Herbert Karl Gierlinger

Herbert Karl Gierlinger, 75, of Smithfield, Virginia, passed away on July 9, 2023. He was born on November 4, 1947, in Muhlbach am Hochkönig, Austria. Herbert was a loving husband, father, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his wife Gisela, son Herbert, and daughter Sabine (Tommy.) Herbert was preceded in death by his father Georg, mother Franziska, and brother Siegfried.

Herbert was a dedicated family man who cherished his loved ones. He was adored by his friends and co-workers for his selflessness and willingness to go above and beyond for those he loved. Herbert had a passion for the outdoors and spent many days deer hunting and many nights coon hunting. Fishing, bird watching, and cooking for his family were among his favorite hobbies.

During his professional career, Herbert worked at Liebherr-America from 1965 to 2012 when he retired from his position as Fabrication Manager. He dedicated his time and skills to his work, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and the company.

A service to celebrate Herbert's life will be held at home on a date to be determined. The details of the ceremony will be shared with family and close friends.

Herbert Gierlinger will be remembered for his kind heart, his love for his family, and his passion for the outdoors.
