Glen Nelon, age 83, of Smithfield, VA passed away on November 12, 2021 in a fatal car accident in the town of Suffolk. He was born on January 18, 1938 to the late James Alfred Nelon and Mary Lee Brittain Nelon. After high school, he went on to join the Air Force for 4 years. He later joined the Coast Guard and retired after 29 years of service. Glen was happily married to Naomi Vega Nelon who was his partner for 50 years at the time of his death. Mr. Nelon is survived by his wife, daughter, Francine N. Gray (Bruce); and grandchildren, Nicholas, Skyler, Jake and Brandon. Glen was most proud to be a “Coastie” and his greatest joy was his grandchildren. Besides spending time with his family, Glen loved his computer, reading books, making sundials, learning new languages, and playing sudoku. He always had a positive and enthusiastic spirit and was best known for spoiling his wife, “Noni,” whom he loved dearly. His daughter, Francine, was the apple of his eye. Anyone who met Glen will all say the same, he was a great guy! He cared deeply for his family, never complained, and always thought of others. He will be missed dearly; he has touched many and he will never be forgotten. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
