Evelyn Bateman Ransdell

Evelyn Bateman Ransdell, “Aunt Evie”, 79, of Smithfield, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018. The daughter of the late Robert Harrison Bateman and Leo Mae Gayle Bateman. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Smithfield. She was a past member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Senior German Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years Lawrence “Larry” L. Ransdell. She is survived by a sister Delilah B. Horsfield, 1 nephew Robert Kevin Horsfield, 2 nieces Valerie Horsfield Irwin, Deborah R. Carros and an adopted niece Ashley Nicole Turner. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. in St. Luke’s Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday May 20 from 2 to 3 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield.
