Elmer Franklin Mack

Elmer Franklin Mack, 103, of Smithfield, VA, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025. He was the son of the late Orville Gale Mack and Flossie Levern Burkeholder Mack. He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Huber and Debra Epps (Joseph); a son, Robert F. Mack (Mary Frances); grandchildren, Robert, Emily and James. He was also preceded in death by his wife of forty years Betty June Mack. 

Mr. Mack served honorably in WWII, in the Signal Corp in General Patton’s third army. Following the war he worked for a year in Paris. Upon returning to the states, he worked at the Pentagon and then to Langley Air Force base where he retired from a long career in civil service. He was a member of American Legion #1 Paris, France and the oldest member of the American Legion Post 49, Smithfield, VA.

 After his retirement he enjoyed showing horses with his daughters. He and Betty moved to Florida where they enjoyed sailboat racing, traveling the US and Canada in their RV. Together they enjoyed volunteering in Sun City Center, FL.
