With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edward Lee Arthur on February 17, 2025, at the age of 85. Edward was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, known for his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
Born on April 21, 1939, in Victoria, Virginia, Edward lived a life full of purpose and dedication. He proudly served as a United States Marine, demonstrating his commitment to duty, honor, and country. After his military service, he spent his career at Newport News Shipbuilding, where he worked diligently until his retirement.
Beyond his professional career, Edward was deeply committed to serving his community. He was a life member of the Isle of Wight Rescue Squad, dedicating more than 20 years to helping those in need. His selflessness and devotion to the well-being of others left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Even after retirement, Edward remained active and engaged. Some may remember him from Sears, where he worked as an associate in tool sales, always ready with a helpful hand and a friendly smile.
Those who knew Edward will always remember his kind heart, generous spirit, and dedication to his family and community.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dreama Arthur, and his oldest son, Duane Arthur. He is survived by his son, Randy Arthur; his grandsons, Nicholas Arthur and his wife Amy, Kendall Arthur and his wife Erin, Drew Henderson, Levi Arthur, and Cody Arthur; his granddaughter, Becky Haughton; and his great-grandsons, Bryce Haughton and Kayson Arthur. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on March 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Little’s Funeral Home in Smithfield, Virginia, followed by a service at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place immediately afterward at St. Luke’s.
Edward’s legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
