Dianne Sawyer Whitmer

Dianne Sawyer Whitmer entered into eternal rest on January 25, 2025 at the age of 79. Born on March 22, 1945, Dianne spent much of her career at Newport News Shipbuilding, where her commitment to excellence and dedication to her work earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.

Above all, Dianne cherished her family. She is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Christanna Hogge; very loyal mama's fur baby BoBo; sister, Virginia McClendon; and her brother, Lawrence Sawyer. Together, they shared countless memories that celebrated their bond and reflected the warmth of their family ties.

Dianne was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Earnest Sawyer and Mary Adele Sawyer, along with her dearly missed daughter, Linda Fausnaug; and life partner Johnny Hargrave. Their presence will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

As we remember Dianne, we honor a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
