Clifford Wayne Wiedel, 83, was a faithful husband, father and friend. He was quiet and kind; respected and loved by all who knew him. He and his wife of 50 years, Carol, raised their 4 children in Surry where they have resided for 40 years. Cliff grew up on a farm in Nebraska. He joined the Air Force after high school and was stationed in Alaska where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He then attended art school in Chicago. In 1972 Cliff moved to Charlottesville where he met Carol. They were married in 1974 and then moved to Northern Virginia. In addition to commercial art and house painting, Cliff painted oil and watercolor paintings which he displayed and sold at art shows and galleries. In 1985 they moved to Surry. His art transitioned to painting murals and high-end specialty painting in homes and businesses.
Cliff served as an elder of New Harvest Church from its beginning. His family was also involved in various ministries at the church. Cliff believed that he was here to serve others and serve God. His life exemplified that purpose. He leaves behind his wife Carol, his sons Jason (Della), Jonathan (Rachael), and Joel (Autumn) and his daughter Joanna (Stan Kuta), and 9 grandchildren. He had 4 brothers, Gerald (deceased), Jerome, Clancy (deceased) and Willis and 2 sisters, Margie and Rita.
