Carlton Benjamin Jordan, Sr.

Carlton Benjamin Jordan, Sr, 82, of Smithfield, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024. He was the son of the late Othneil Benjamin Jordan and Hattie Maude Lane Jordan. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janie Sydnor Jordan; daughters, Tammy Zitzelberger (Dave), Lesley King (Paul), Laura Smith (Jeff); son, Carlton Jordan Jr (Marcy); grandchildren, David, Heather, Katie, Megan, Ryan, Justin, Amanda, Emma, Ben, Ralegh and Luke; great grandchildren, Olivia, Ryder, Jaxon, Hunter, Sadie and Adam; brothers, Melvin Jordan, Glen Jordan and Kenneth Jordan. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Janie Crocker and Katherine Carr. Carlton was a wonderful family man, husband, father and grandfather. He cherished time spent with family and our many trips to the Virginia and Tennessee mountains. He retired from Gwaltney Packing after 49 years of service. After retiring he enjoyed spending time outdoors at his fish pond, spoiling his cocker spaniel, Penney, and being outdoors in nature. A funeral service will be held on Sunday June 30, 2024, 3 p.m. at Little’s Funeral Home, Smithfield. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department, 1804 S.
