Bina Johnson Gwaltney

Bina Johnson Gwaltney went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 21 2023. She passed away peacefully at Chippenham Hospital with her family by her side. Bina was born and raised in Dendron, VA. She was the daughter of Jabray Johnson and Hannah Ann Peck Johnson. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Shirley Johnson and Jack Johnson and sister Beatrice J. Smith. Bina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of Surry Baptist Church. Bina was also a Bookkeeper for Surry Educational Foundation.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 71 years, Will Meredith Gwaltney Jr.; daughter, Sandra Gwaltney Fields (Dale); son, Meredith Eugene Gwaltney (Debbie); grandsons, Sean Laughter (Randy), Justin Laughter (Olivia); granddaughters, Meredith Wells (Dwayne), Kathryn Nicholas (Dan), Sarah Touchberry (Jackson); great granddaughters, Heidi Wells, Lily Wells; great grandson, Luke Nicholas; sisters, Alice J. Pittman, Lucille J. Epps; along with many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 25 2023 at 2 PM in the Little’s Funeral Home, 1515 South Church Street, Smithfield VA with Dr. Jeff Koonce officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, 6329 Mill Swamp Road, Ivor, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
